Advanced Flow Assurance with OLGA

This three-day course is valuable for the OLGA user with some experience.

The mixture of lectures and hands-on exercises with one PC per student improves the understanding of the program background and widens the scope of applications of transient multiphase simulations for flow assurance.

The topics covered by lectures and exercises include: 

• Controller basics
• Separator with valves and controllers to mitigate slugging
• Water hammer
• Wax
• Hydrates
• Slug catcher sizing
• Pigging
• Operability and overpressure protection.

The exercises are conducted within the frame of the OLGA Graphical User Interface (GUI) and thus all major features of the GUI are covered, e.g. model building, case execution, parametric studies and effective post-processing. Fluid property tables for OLGA are generated with PVTsim and one exercise is dedicated to this.
