OVIP Program

OVIP - Expert forum for multiphase flow
OVIP is a research and development program for validation and improvement of OLGA.

The recent OVIP 2007 - 2009 program is supported by BP, Chevron, ENI, ExxonMobil, Petronas Carigali, Shell, StatoilHydro and Total .

OVIP has different phases:

Field data

A large emphasis in the OVIP project is on collecting new field data and doing comparisons with OLGA. The OVIP databank is the largest multiphase flow data bank ever assembled.

Experiments

IFE’s experimental facilities include several laboratories for multiphase flow technologies. Based on results from such experiments, mathematical flow models are developed. These are then implemented in the multiphase transport simulation code for OLGA.

Modeling

Much of the later developments in OLGA have been concentrated in two areas:

  • Condensate and water accumulation in large gas condensate pipelines.
  • Three-phase slug tracking in oil dominated pipeline and riser systems.
