edpm and eField

Introduction to eField

In the last decade, there has been an increasing focus on eField solutions. High speed communications now link production facilities with centralized operations support centers. Major oil companies are investing strategically in their eField initiatives: “integrated operations”, “field of the future”, “remote operations”, “smart fields”,” i-fields” and “field monitoring”. The edpm solution powered by OLGA has proven to be one of the key elements in making the true eField possible.

The availability of high speed data and increased high frequency measurements enable the use of online simulator models to gain a deeper insight into the current and future operating conditions of the field.

Introduction to edpm

eField Dynamic Production Management (edpm) is a truly dynamic online production support system, improving the understanding of wellstream flow to enable a proactive and cost effective operation. edpm provides information from parts of the production system that instrumentation cannot reach, which allows for the development of advanced operation advisors based on SPT Group’s accumulated knowledge of field production. An open structure gives ready access to third party software developers and operators, inviting further innovations.

The edpm solution represents model-based instrumentation not available in a conventional control system. Real-time models that match the field improve understanding of the reservoirs, wells, pipelines and facilities. This assists in the exploration of alternative operation strategies without risk to the facilities. Model values (virtual instrumentation) can highlight possible instrumentation errors and replace real instruments when they fail.

The future of production management systems will be accessed through this technology with automated solutions to optimize returns on investments and avoid production disruptions.

eField Summary
