Drilling Application

Drilling – eField dynamic pressure management – edpm

Dynamic effects during drilling

Successful drilling of challenging wells requires in-depth understanding of the hydraulics during all phases of the operation. The drilling process is highly dynamic and complicated to model, thus dynamics have traditionally been neglected. The importance of dynamic effects is growing with diminishing operational margins from increasing water depth or total well depth. Coupled with increasing well construction cost, software tools capable of modelling the dynamics have become strategically important.

More complex drilling operations

eField solutions with real time monitoring and control have therefore, grown in importance as the drilling operations become more complex. Tighter margins require close monitoring of well conditions and accurate control of the operational parameters, which can only be attained by applying software online in combination with available downhole instrumentation. Similar to the flow assurance capabilities of OLGA, the models in SPT Group’s Drillbench software provide a unique basis for eField applications. Accurate dynamic modelling of the wellbore flow yields the most reliable results for monitoring and a basis for automatic control of the operation.

Real time monitoring and control

With edpm the drilling engineer will be able to monitor and forecast the processes with high accuracy. This will improve the operational performance through optimal decision support and ensure that well conditions meet the design requirements when planning and operating the most challenging and complex wells.

As an independent specialist supplier, SPT Group offers well-proven software solutions to all drilling companies for various drilling concepts.
