Dynamic Hydraulics and Dynamic Well Control
This 3-day course gives an introduction to the capabilities of the Dynamic Hydraulics module and the Dynamic Well Control module within the Drillbench software suite and will make you capable of executing realistic dynamic simulations.
Dynamic Hydraulics:
A mixture of lectures and hands-on exercises make the student understand the thermo-hydraulic challenges in a drilling operation and how to apply Drillbench to address these:
- Dynamic drilling hydraulics
- The impact of temperature
- Dynamic surge and swab calculations
Dynamic Well Control:
A mixture of lectures and hands-on exercises make the student understand challenges in well control operations like:
- Manual choke control and understanding of the interaction with the reservoir
- Kick tolerance calculations
- Evaluation of safe circulation of a kick
- Drilled and swabbed kick
- Dissolution of gas (OBM vs. WBM)
During the course, the Presmod and Kick modules of the Drillbench software suite are used. The dynamic aspect of the results is evaluated during the exercises, as well as effective postprocessing of results. Our experienced instructors focus on teaching you how to turn your data into an effective Drillbench simulation, maximising the use of Drillbench to provide detailed and realistic result for your operation.
The course is useful for the beginning to intermediate Drillbench user, the prospective Drillbench licensee, and the design or operations professional interested in exploring the uses and capabilities of dynamic drilling hydraulics simulations. No previous experience with Drillbench is necessary, but a general knowledge of drilling operations is an advantage.
