Wells with OLGA

August 11- 13, 2009; Perth - Australia

This 3 day course is intended to teach engineers working with wells and well performance to use standard OLGA and also the Advanced Well Module to calculate steady state performance and to simulate transient operations.

No previous OLGA experience is necessary, but a general knowledge of well flow and well performance is an advantage.

The course outline is similar to our Flow Assurance with OLGA course with emphasis on hands-on exercises.

The topics covered by lectures and exercises include:

  • Unstable behaviour during normal operation e.g. Slugging
  • Effects of choking
  • Shut-in and Re-start
  • Rate changes
  • Gas lift
  • Well clean up
  • Interaction of wells and flowlines

The exercises are conducted within the framework of the OLGA Graphical User Interface (GUI) and thus all major features of the GUI are covered, e.g. model building, case execution, parametric studies, and effective post-processing. Fluid property tables for OLGA are generated with PVTsim and one exercise is dedicated to this.
